About Me
I am an intern at the Mozilla Corporation in Mountain View California. We develop the Firefox web browser. I have been interested in computers for a very long time. My first computer experience was with DOS and Windows 3.1 on a Panasonic 386SX. I was in a book store when I was about 9-10 when I saw a box for Red Hat Linux 5.2. I convinced my parents to buy it for me and was given an outdated AST 486DX2. I learned a lot about hardware, completely rebuilding the machine multiple times. I installed and used Red Hat for a few years, using the latest Red Hat of the day. Around the time that Fedora Core 1 was released I switched to using Ubuntu 5.04 because it was a lot easier to work with. After starting school I realized that Ubuntu did not suit my ideology. I looked at Fedora 8 and noticed that a lot had changed. Specifically, they had revamped their entire packaging guideline to make for a much easier to maintain system. The Fedora project is strongly committed to pushing their changes upstream, being the head of open source development, working really well and a completely free and, thus, redistributable.
I also love cars. I plan to buy an E36 or E46 BMW M3 which will be my first car. I have dreamed about owning one of these cars for as long as I can remember. The main reason is that I would like to learn how to drive a car on a race track. Another thing I love is flying. I obtained my pilot’s license and glider pilot’s license through the Royal Canadian Air Cadet program. If I had more time and money I would resume regular flying. In the Air Cadet program I was promoted to the highest rank possible for a cadet, Warrant Officer First Class, where I was responsible, at the cadet level, for my entire Air Cadet squadron.
